Jon Symonds:

I have been involved with ESWRA since 2013 and have served on the Board as a doctoral board member (2013-2016), and as a general board member (2018-2021). I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the Association in various roles including helping to develop and then chair the Prizes Committee, developing and co-chairing the Doctoral and Early Career Special Interest Group, Chairing the Resources Committee, contributing to the steering group for the development of a journal, and being Vice-Chair of the Association. I have been co-chair of the local organising committee for the annual conference in Bucharest and have been contributing to arrangements as they have had to change through the pandemic. I am also co-chair of organising committee for the 2022 conference in Amsterdam. I would be delighted to continue serving the Association and am standing for re-election to maintain continuity of arrangements for the 2022 conference and support the incoming Vice-Chair in their role working with the conference hosts for 2023.

I am a Lecturer in Social Work with Children and Families, based at the University of Bristol. My research interests relate to social work practice, working with fathers, and developing the social work profession. I teach on Masters level social work programmes on qualifying and post-qualified routes, as well as doctoral and undergraduate programmes.
